Static and dynamic tests are performed to measure static and dynamic stiffness of vehicle structure or machine components in its early stages of design and prototype. Static tests are performed using hydraulic actuators, pneumatic actuators, electromagnetic actuators or weight force. Usually in this test, actuators are set to achieve a specific force or displacement travel onto the test component which is constrained by jigs and fixtures until this component yields or fails. The force or displacement at point of yielding or failure is used to define the static stiffness of the component.
